Junior Pennant Result – Sunday 26th October
Posted on: 29 October
What a day! The boys had their best result of the season so far even with 9 players unavailable this week.
Another huge thank you to Kylie for her brownies again this week! All reports were that these were the best batch of the season!
Thanks also go to Archie, Josh & Tom for stepping up and helping out the scratch team again this week. More about that in the score summary below.
Thanks also to Caelan & Hamish for coming into the squad this week and filling our our team. We all appreciate the efforts you made today.
SCRATCH TEAM drew with Burleigh 3-3
Max finished all square when the storm cancelled play
Yutaro lost 5&4
Nick won 2&1
Archie lost 6&4
Josh finished all square when the storm cancelled play
Tom won 1up!!!!
So we have to talk about Tom’s match. After the storm passed, I was very much in favour of going home but Tom’s opponent Bella was adamant that she & Tom go back out to finish their match. Of course, Tom didn’t need much nudging to go back out.
Armed with 5 caddies and allegedly one of them holding a beer, Tom squared his 2nd last hole and then went down the last hole. Because of the shotgun start, Tom’s last hole was the 1st. This played into Tom’s hands because it meant both of them would only be able to reach the green in 3 shots. Tom didn’t miss shot and hit his 3rd to approx. 4 feet to put the pressure on. Bella hit her approach to 12 feet and narrowly missed her putt. Tom nervelessly rolled in his putt for the win and his first ever scratch win! I fear we have created a monster…
BUE TEAM lost 1-5 against Burleigh
Oscar D lost 6&4
James lost 6&5
Rohan lost 3&2
Zack won 2&1
Caelan lost 6&5
Hamish lost 9&8
RED TEAM drew against Surfers 3-3
Oscar E won (again) 5&4
Otto lost 5&4
Lucas lost 4&3
Eric won (again) 5&3
Shiv won 6&5
Ben lost 2 down
Special mention to the 2 Smiles brothers for their efforts in the water today with Ben giving his clubs & bad an impromptu clean on the 8th and James playing his 2nd shot on the 14th, shoes on & all, out of the water.
Was another great day and we’ll all be looking to our final round next week at Burleigh!
