Terms of Competition for Men’s 4BBB Matchplay Knockout
1. The qualifying round will be played on Saturday, 11th June 2022.
2. Those players who wish to qualify for the Matchplay Knockout must register on the registration
form in the golf shop prior to teeing off.
3. The best eight (8) scores from those pairs of players who wish to participate will qualify for the
Matchplay Knockout event.
4. Matchplay rounds must be played on the following dates and at the stipulated times.
Round One – Saturday 18th June 7:35am – 7:56am
Semi-Final – Saturday 25th June 7:49 – 7:56am
Final – Saturday 2nd July 7:56am
5. Round One draw will be posted on the website by 12 noon, Sunday 12th June
6. If a team cancels before 5pm the day before the first round, the first reserve team will go into
the draw in that position. The draw will not be re-done. A cancellation after 5:00pm scores a
walkover win for the opponents.
7. Daily handicap as at 11th June will be maintained for each round of the Knockout.
8. The number of strokes given is the full handicap difference. Where the full handicap difference
exceeds 18, players should receive 2 or 3 strokes per hole where applicable, using the match
play index of holes on the scorecard. The lowest marker concedes strokes to the other three
players including her partner.
EXAMPLE: Player A on a handicap of 10 receives nil strokes, her partner B on a handicap of 24
receives 14 strokes, Player C on a handicap of 26 receives 16 strokes and Player D on a handicap
of 38 receives 28 strokes.
9. All matches will commence on the first tee.
10.Matches squared after completion of the 18th Hole must continue from the first tee until the
match is won. Handicap allowance is taken as at the beginning of the match.
11.Players must report to the starter 10 minutes prior to their schedules starting time. Rule 6-3 and
the note thereto applies. However, one member of the team may play alone throughout the
match and be joined by her partner at any time during the match.
12.The Rules of Golf, including the Daily Rules of the Southport Golf Club apply to this competition.
13. Mobile phones may only be used by a player or caddie for scoring or GPS use. Calls are
prohibited on the course unless a medical emergency exists. (Rule 4.3a applies)
14.Motor Buggies and personal GPS are permitted. If motor buggies are not allowed on the course
for any reason and the course is open for play, the match must proceed.
